Auction Tips - How to get the Most out of your Auction Experience

Online auctions at www.RestaurantEquipment.Bid are a great way to score quality restaurant equipment for pennies on the dollar. Whether you are new to RestaurantEquipment.bid or a seasoned veteran, here are some tips that will help you use all the tools at your disposal during an auction.

1. Registering and Logging in.

Before you’ll be able to bid on items, you’ll need to register for a bidder number. Registration is simple, just click “Register to Bid” at the top of our website, fill in the blanks and you’re set! You will be assigned a bidder number which you will use as your Login ID. Once you are a registered bidder, you can login by clicking “Bidder Profile / Login” at the top of our website, or by entering your Login ID and password at the bottom of any auction page. Once logged in, you’ll be able to see the status of each item you are bidding on.

2. Using the "Maximum Bid" Function

The Maximum Bid function allows you to set the highest amount you would pay for an item, and not have to worry about staying by your computer to enter bids when an auction is closing. For example, If you set your maximum bid to $25.00 for an item, the Maximum Bid function will automatically bid on your behalf without you needing to be at a computer. If your maximum bid is reached and other customers continue bidding, no further automatic bids will be placed in your name. For this reason, it’s good to closely monitor items you’re interested in when auctions are closing.

3. Using the "Refresh" Function

If you are interested in winning an item, pay close attention to new bids that are submitted near an auction’s end by hitting the “refresh” button either in the upper-left corner of the auction page, or using the toolbar in your browser window. Both buttons accomplish the same thing. It’s good to be quick and pay close attention, but we have also built in a system that ensures you won’t lose an item in the blink of an eye. Items will close out one-at-a-time from top to bottom, and every time someone increases the bid on an item, that items closing time is extended another three minutes, so you will always have time to make a counter bid. This feature allows you to monitor and bid on as many items as you need to. Most of the bidding takes place in the final hour of our auction, so if you have not set a maximum bid for yourself, make sure you are on your computer and paying attention to current bids by hitting the “refresh” button on the right hand side of each listing.

4. Using the "Review Bids" Function

If you are bidding on multiple items and want to keep yourself organized, use the “Review Bids” function at the bottom of each auction page. There, you will be prompted for your bidder number and password. After entering this information, our system will show you the items you are bidding on and what the high bid is at that moment.

5. Check Your Email!

Our system automatically emails you when you have been out-bid on an item. If you are not receiving these emails, check your spam folder to make sure they are not being filtered.

6. Pay Attention to the Pickup Date

Often times, pickup dates for auctions can be a very narrow window with limited wiggle room. Remember, a lot of people holding auctions on RestaurantEquipment.bid are in a hurry to close their location and need their equipment removed in a timely manner. While this can sometimes pose a challenge for winning bidders, it is the reason so much of this equipment is selling for such a low price. That’s the auction business for you!
